Al-Qiyaama · The Resurrection

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 75:1

   لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ﴿١﴾

   I swear by the Day of Resurrection

2. 75:2

   وَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ﴿٢﴾

   And I swear by the reproaching soul¹⁸⁰⁰ [to the certainty of resurrection].

3. 75:3

   أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ﴿٣﴾

   Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?

4. 75:4

   بَلَىٰ قَٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُۥ﴿٤﴾

   Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.

5. 75:5

   بَلۡ يُرِيدُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ لِيَفۡجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ﴿٥﴾

   But man desires to continue in sin.¹⁸⁰¹

6. 75:6

   يَسۡـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ﴿٦﴾

   He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"

7. 75:7

   فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ﴿٧﴾

   So when vision is dazzled

8. 75:8

   وَخَسَفَ ٱلۡقَمَرُ﴿٨﴾

   And the moon darkens

9. 75:9

   وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ﴿٩﴾

   And the sun and the moon are joined,

10. 75:10

    يَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذٍ أَيۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّ﴿١٠﴾

    Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"

11. 75:11

    كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ﴿١١﴾

    No! There is no refuge.

12. 75:12

    إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ﴿١٢﴾

    To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.

13. 75:13

    يُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ﴿١٣﴾

    Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead¹⁸⁰² and kept back.¹⁸⁰³

14. 75:14

    بَلِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةࣱ﴿١٤﴾

    Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,¹⁸⁰⁴

15. 75:15

    وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ﴿١٥﴾

    Even if he presents his excuses.

16. 75:16

    لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦٓ﴿١٦﴾

    Move not your tongue with it, [O Muḥammad], to hasten with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān].

17. 75:17

    إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا جَمۡعَهُۥ وَقُرۡءَانَهُۥ﴿١٧﴾

    Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.

18. 75:18

    فَإِذَا قَرَأۡنَٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعۡ قُرۡءَانَهُۥ﴿١٨﴾

    So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.

19. 75:19

    ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا بَيَانَهُۥ﴿١٩﴾

    Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].

20. 75:20

    كَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ﴿٢٠﴾

    No! But you [i.e., mankind] love the immediate

21. 75:21

    وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةَ﴿٢١﴾

    And leave [i.e., neglect] the Hereafter.

22. 75:22

    وُجُوهࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ نَّاضِرَةٌ﴿٢٢﴾

    [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,

23. 75:23

    إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةࣱ﴿٢٣﴾

    Looking at their Lord.¹⁸⁰⁵

24. 75:24

    وَوُجُوهࣱ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بَاسِرَةࣱ﴿٢٤﴾

    And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,

25. 75:25

    تَظُنُّ أَن يُفۡعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةࣱ﴿٢٥﴾

    Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.

26. 75:26

    كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِيَ﴿٢٦﴾

    No! When it [i.e., the soul] has reached the collar bones¹⁸⁰⁶

27. 75:27

    وَقِيلَ مَنۡۜ رَاقࣲ﴿٢٧﴾

    And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"

28. 75:28

    وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلۡفِرَاقُ﴿٢٨﴾

    And he [i.e., the dying one] is certain that it is the [time of] separation

29. 75:29

    وَٱلۡتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ﴿٢٩﴾

    And the leg is wound about the leg,¹⁸⁰⁷

30. 75:30

    إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَئِذٍ ٱلۡمَسَاقُ﴿٣٠﴾

    To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.¹⁸⁰⁸

31. 75:31

    فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ﴿٣١﴾

    And he [i.e., the disbeliever] had not believed, nor had he prayed.

32. 75:32

    وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ﴿٣٢﴾

    But [instead], he denied and turned away.

33. 75:33

    ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ﴿٣٣﴾

    And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].

34. 75:34

    أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰ﴿٣٤﴾

    Woe to you, and woe!

35. 75:35

    ثُمَّ أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰٓ﴿٣٥﴾

    Then woe to you, and woe!

36. 75:36

    أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ أَن يُتۡرَكَ سُدًى﴿٣٦﴾

    Does man think that he will be left neglected?¹⁸⁰⁹

37. 75:37

    أَلَمۡ يَكُ نُطۡفَةࣰ مِّن مَّنِيࣲّ يُمۡنَىٰ﴿٣٧﴾

    Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?

38. 75:38

    ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةࣰ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ﴿٣٨﴾

    Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allāh] created [his form] and proportioned [him]

39. 75:39

    فَجَعَلَ مِنۡهُ ٱلزَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ﴿٣٩﴾

    And made of him two mates, the male and the female.

40. 75:40

    أَلَيۡسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحۡـِۧيَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ﴿٤٠﴾

    Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?
